My portfolio website has just been updated with two new pieces, Liberty/Flower Power and Art With 3 Sides.
Liberty/Flower Power is a piece commissioned by Liberty, London for their 2010 theme, Flower Power.

A range of long sleeve T shirts, short sleeve T shirts and tank tops can be purchased from Liberty website from HERE.

Art With 3 Sides is a personal piece. It's inspired by patterns and textile of Africa.

Brighton Uni Degree Show 2010

I've been to the Brighton Uni's Degree Show Private View last weekend.
Oh this year again, it was such a whirl-pool of talents on display.
Here's a couple of exhibits I really liked.

Graphic design student Miss Claire Murray's work can be seen right by the entrance of the 2nd floor studio. W a n t t h a t p o s t e r...!

Illustration student Miss Alice Pattullo's work. Colourful, playful, wonderful. Her business card was the best business card I've ever pick up in my life (and I must say, I do pick up a lot of business cards).
It was a mouth-shaped, hand screen-printed gem.

Lovely Daphne Christoforou blows your mind away with her quality creation. The two frames on the sides are actually interactive animation on computer screens sandwiching a printed-out digital collage in the middle. I highly recommend anyone to play around with the animation. It's so oh-my-god-how-does-she-do-this!?

Big thumbs up.

Long time no post but I'm back!

I've been designing a new online shop. I haven't put up anything there yet but am intending to sell my original drawings and Giclee prints (and hopefully screen prints too!) there.

Here's a little preview of what it will look like.

By the way FreakShow ended last Saturday and it was great! Also there is a group show going on at AMV BBDO in London curated by Agency Rush. I've been meaning to write about these things but I've been too busy...! I blame it all for my computer which seems to dislike my camera and freezes every time I connect it!

I will, I mean I WILL post photos of these exciting events sometime soon. 

FreakShow Private View

Brighton FreakShow, group exhibition of hand-selected illustrators is opening this Friday with the Private View (which anyone interested is welcome to come along!) which will take place from 7pm onwards at St Peter's Church, Brighton.

I'm taking part in the exhibition, showing From The Woods and Le Cadavre Exquis (original pencil drawings / ...anyone who's got no idea what I'm talking about, please kindly make your way to my portfolio website www.yukomich.co.uk thanks) and also selling Giclee Prints of Le Cadavre Exquis as limited edition of 50, signed and numbered for £30 each.

There's going to be drinks and cupcakes which are hand-baked by the participating artists themselves except me and a few more unmotivated bakers. Well I'm not that good at baking so decided to avoid potential food poisoning incident for this occasion.

Pick Me Up

I've been to Pick Me Up (Graphic art + Illustration event)'s private view last night at Somerset House.

It was amazing. There were so many nicey nice prints after prints after prints sandwiched by hand printed zines, T shirts and tote bags on sale. Sigh, I felt like I could easily spend the amount of money I should be spending on something like the rent there.

These are a few of my favourites from the night.

Having seen some of his work on the internet, I already liked Mr Patrick Gildersleeves's work. But oh my my. The originals blew my mind away.

A3 sized digital prints all unbelievably priced as £12 including the one on the far left by Mr-Oh-I-want-to-live-in-your-beard-please aka Mr Mike Perry. Yes I thought the price might be a joke but apparently it isn't.

I have adored the work of talented Ms Natsko Seki for a long time now. I'd love to have a print of her work in my living room wall. I was really happy last night to be finally introduced to her after these long years of one-way-love (in a very creative manner I mean). She was very lovely by the way.

And in the corner of the space for the shop Concrete Hermit, Giclee prints of my work are on sale too. I felt somehow out of place to be able to have my work up on the wall (even in a tiny little corner of a room that is) along with those great creatives even I can recognise the names of. And remind you, I am really bad at remembering names.
They are £45 each, signed and numbered, limited edition of 50.

Pick Me Up is open every day until 3 May at Somerset House, London. The admission is £5 but may I say, it's well worth it.
I think I'll have to go back sometime next week to have a proper look myself too.

Le Cadavre Exquis

I've just updated yukomich.co.uk with a new piece!

It's a pencil drawing with typography elements integrated.
I'm planning on showing this piece at Brighton Freak Show that is happening in May as part of Brighton May Festival.
